Folk Art
Folk art is decorative or utilitarian art of the people that is often an expression of community life and is distinguished from academic or self-conscious or cosmopolitan expression. In comparison to fine art, folk art is first and foremost practical and ornamental more willingly than merely artistic and visual. It has its own identity and paradigm. It articulates cultural and intellectual distinctiveness by transmitting collective community norms and aesthetics. Folk art covers a variety of useful, practical and ornamental mediums like cloth, wood, paper, clay, metal, and others. Folk artists traditionally learn skills and techniques through apprenticeships in informal community settings, though they may also be formally educated. This art is simple, direct, and usually colourful in its approach. India had always been recognized as the focus which portrayed cultural and traditional vivacity from end to end its conservative paintings, arts and crafts.
